I love it when a DIY project to fix a door that wouldn’t latch actually works out. Thank you YouTube!

I have been on vacation and haven’t been paying close attention to the news, but I for one am on team Algae. I really hope the Algae wins.
I find myself sitting in the swimming pool room at URI for my kids' most recent swim meet. As I read all the buzz around the new macbook neo, I find myself reflecting on the fact that I’m still using an 8 year old macbook pro and have no desire to upgrade any time soon.
Never in my life have I ever experienced 3 feet of snow in a single 24 hour storm. And ho boy I’m done with snow removal. Today was day two, I can now claim victory over the driveway, but I still need to find the mailbox tomorrow and clear off the shed.
I will say this, compared to the stories of the bl
I decided I’ve had enough of Microsoft tracking my activities without my permission on my PC. I ditched MS and installed Linux and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. Also, did the sitting president of the US really poop his pants on live television? That’s AI make believe, right?
I just found out about moltbook last night and I just can’t. So not only are we dealing with AI slop everywhere, now we have an special reddit just for AI bots to talk with each other? I just can’t…
Nothing like the multi day swim meet where we have to be here late Friday and early Saturday.
Attending a kung fu tournament today. It’s been a long time since I’ve done one of these, but I think it will be fun regardless!
First swim meet of the season. Both kids are off to a great start for the season. Hard to believe we’ve only got a few more years before they are off to adult hood.
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t understand the upset over Cracker Barrel changing their logo. It all just feels fake and I’d bet money that most people claiming to be upset have never actually eaten there. To be honest, I didn’t even know they were still in business.
There’s nothing like being the parent of a teenager. After a brief discussion this morning, which ended in an argument, our teenaged kiddo stormed off yelling at us “You’ll never be invited to a conspiracy club!”
Thank you?
While I’ve been on vacation, I decided to start messing around with Rust. I’ve got a very simple command line program that will read the micro.blog rss feed for my user and print out the posts from the RSS feed. It doesn’t do much yet, but I’m having fun with it, it is nice working on a project where I don’t have deadlines.
Vertigo is the worst, I give it 1 out of 5 stars. Do not recommend.
We had some nice weather here in the NE US this past week, but it is back to the cold today. Not that I’ll get to enjoy it much, last big swim meet for the season for the kids, so we’ll be in the pool room for most of the afternoon. I love supporting my kids in their activities, but I am definitely looking forward to having some quieter weekends.
Happy New Year!
My daughter wants to make it a family tradition to kick off the holidays by watching the Star Wars Holiday Special 😂. I want to say no, but there is part of me that wants to see how long that tradition will last.
I might have tons of cleaning to do, and a few hours of work to do, but I did manage to for a couple of Magic the Gathering games in with my son.
Busy weekend this weekend. Was at WPI in Worcester yesterday for me son’s swim meet. Cleaning house today and having some friends over to play some games. Good times all around, but I do have some work I need to fit in somewhere. Can’t all be fun and games.
I am purposelessly avoiding any and all news today. I went and did my civic duty and cat my ballot, but I don’t feel the need to watch the endless projections by the news.
I had a weird experience at CVS last night. I stopped in to pick up a couple of items, and went to the checkout to pay. The person behind the counter asked the standard question of “do you have a care card?”.
I generally avoid signing up for any sort of rewards program big box stores offer because I don’t like giving them any more of my personal info than I have to. So I just simply said “No.”
This is where it started to get weird. The clerk then asked me rather accusingly “Well, why not?”. I just gave my usual answer of “I don’t like giving away my personal info if I don’t have to.”
The clerk then gave the typical response of “I used to think that way, but then i realized how much money I saved.”.
I forget what i said to that, i think something along the lines of “I believe strongly that I shouldn’t have to.”. Then it got really weird.
The clerk then asked me “Are you the CEO of a big corporation?”.
The what? Where the heck did that come from?! I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. And people wonder why I often prefer the self checkout…
Life’s been rough this year, but I’ve really been enjoying the memes floating around the internet around the Turkish sharpshooter who won the silver medal in the Olympics.
I’ve been doing a lot more driving in Boston the last couple weeks and I’ve learned a few things. First, red lights mean stop only if traffic in front of you forces you to stop. Second, if you ride a motorcycle or scooter, you can literally ride anywhere you want. Third, that also seems to apply to cars sometimes. Fourth, be really careful passing a vehicle that is waiting to turn left on the right of that vehicle. And last, Boston really is an hour away from Boston sometimes. I guess once you get past all of that it isn’t that bad 😄
I’ve been finding myself stick in a bit of a rut lately, but I’m looking forward to weather weather to get me out on my bike more.
I know it is only Wednesday, but is it Friday yet?
Life has been pretty tough lately, but today I’m finding signs that things are getting better. I’m looking forward to less crazy weeks ahead and a little more time to focus on myself for a change.
